There are fun daily activities for families including trails and learning spaces, as well a lively programme of events for all the family. We also have a children’s menu in The Bakestone café and baby changing facilities.
1. The Abbot Hall Art Gallery Trail.
Explore the galleries with the Abbot Hall trail and look out for cartoon illustrations of The Great Picture dog.
2. Art Smocks
Children can put on a FREE art smock on arrival. The pockets are filled will activities and things to do as you explore.
3. The Art Studio
Located off the galleries, the Art Studio is free to use and filled with art supplies for families to get creative.
4. Saturday Art Club.
Join us on the first Saturday of every month and bring art to life. More here.
5. Crawl in the Hall
Fun, creative and multi-sensory sessions for under 5s and their parent / guardian every Friday during term time. More here.
6. Art Camp
A week of hand’s on activities exploring art and history for 8 – 14 year olds. More here.
7. Exhibition Activities
We always have interactive activities for families inspired by the current exhibition, in addition to the daily activities. Until 31 August kids can create LEGO Sculptures or Strike a Pose to become a living statue inspired by our Elisabeth Frink exhibition.
8. Abbot Hall Park
The gallery is just a stone throw from the leafy Abbot Hall Park where kids can let off steam in the play area and seating is available for picnics.
There are also plenty of things to see and do at Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry, just across the courtyard.
