Chora brings together twelve young contemporary artists who in very different ways explore the links between the spoken and written word. Taking the Greek word for 'receptacle' as its title, the show contains works in many different media including painting, drawing, installation and sculpture.
The exhibition title 'Chora', was a term first used by Plato to express the notion of 'an invisible and formless space out of which the language emerges'. It looks back to the Platonic notion of an ambiguous space between an eternal idea and material object, a space in which all things and all meanings arise.
The show is being curated by Simon Morley and Sue Hubbard.
