II. Women Artists and The Royal Academy's Glass Ceiling

Thursday 7 June 2018, 6.00pm

Among thirty four founding members of the RA, the only female artists were Angelica Kauffman and Mary Moser. Following Kauffman’s relocation to Rome and Moser’s death in 1819, there were no female members until Dame Laura Knight was elected in 1936. This talk looks at the difference in status between male and female artists within the Royal Academy.

This talk is the second in a two-part series celebrating the Royal Academy's 250th anniversary alongside our RA250 displays.
