Kendal sits at the gateway to the English Lake District and is just 15 minutes drive from junction 36 of the M6. Follow the A591 and take the second exit, signed 'Kendal South' and follow the signs.

Oxenholme is the nearest main-line railway station. Regular bus services and taxis are available to bring you into Kendal.

Abbot Hall is at the southern end of Kendal, just next to the Parish Church. Follow the signs and when you arrive, go through the public car park and into the main Abbot Hall and museum car park. This is a pay and display car park (maximum stay 4 hours) at 80p an hour. Failure to display a valid parking ticket will result in your vehicle being clamped.
