Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the Museum of Lakeland Life make an ideal
visit for groups. Abbot Hall is a special place to see and enjoy art,
in the setting of an elegant Georgian villa. The gallery and museum
are surrounded by lawns and trees, beside the fast-flowing River Kent
and overlooked by the romantic ruins of Kendal Castle. There is a
coffee shop to enjoy as well as two shops, close proximity to the
town centre, and plenty of free coach parking. |

GUIDES
|
|
Guided
tours are not compulsory but all parties are advised to book a guide
as experience has shown that this additional input greatly enhances
group visits. Your guide will be on hand to welcome the party on the
coach, manage numbers, give an introductory talk in the main galleries
(approx. 30 mins), answer questions and ensure that all catering arrangements
are in place. |
|
|
|
CATERING |
|
The
Gallery Coffee Shop can accommodate up to 15 people at any one time,
so it may be necessary to divide the group into separate sittings,
particularly in busy periods. Please note that the Coffee Shop is
very popular with local people so advance bookings are essential.
Special selections may be available for groups booked in advance,
please contact Kathryn knipe to make arrangements.

GROUP
SIZE |
|
We
can comfortably accommodate large parties, but if you have not booked
a guided tour, we suggest that you split into smaller groups of around
10, starting at different points to ensure maximum enjoyment of the
diverse collections. |

CHANGING
EXHIBITS |
|
PLEASE
NOTE: It is always best to check to see which exhibitions are currently
on show. If your party wishes to see particular works from the collections
(like the Turner watercolour), you are advised to check they are on
current display since the exhibitions change regularly and we occasionally
loan paintings to other galleries. |
