We are thrilled to be working with the artist Ellie Chaney on creative Family Workshops throughout the year. Ellie loves to share creative experiences with young people, and works across a wide range of media including illustration, drawing and film making. Ellie is excited about exploring Abbot Hall’s artworks and all the museum’s interesting objects.

Be inspired by watercolours in the exhibition Turner and his Contemporaries: The Hickman Bacon Watercolour Collection as we create translucent pictures to hang in your window. You’ll also have the opportunity to see these projected on a wall, filling the room with light and colour.
Pop-up Adventure Books

Create your own adventure pop-up book, inspired by the museum’s collection of Arthur Ransome’s ‘Swallows and Amazons’ mementoes. You can also make a tiny boat to tell your story with too!

Create fun rod puppets inspired by our collection of Victorian toys in the museum to entertain your family and friends. You’ll also have the opportunity to put your puppets into action using our puppet theatre.
