Child drawing at Abbot Hall

Education

Many children make their first visit to an art gallery as part of an organised school group. A visit to Abbot Hall Art Gallery will encourage students to investigate art, link it to their own experiences and to other subjects. We offer two types of visits:

Self-led Visits
We welcome independent visits by school groups to Abbot Hall and the Museum of Lakeland Life. All self-led visits are free of charge but must be pre-booked. We are happy to discuss the content of your visit, and may be able to arrange teaching resources for you.

Guided Sessions
Guided sessions are led by enthusiastic gallery and museum educators. Students are invited to engage with works of art and historical objects in the Trust’s Collection and temporary exhibitions. This is achieved through investigation, practical activities and discussion. The sessions can be tailored to your specific requirements and last up to 45 minutes.
The standard charge is £35.
